SEMINAR OVERVIEW: TOTAL OF 6 PDHS

Speaker Bio—Sandra Hyde, PE Sandra Hyde, P.E. is a Sr. Staff Engineer with the ICC Product Development Group where she develops and reviews technical resources dealing with the structural provisions of the codes. Sandra has developed technical seminars for the IBC and IRC highlighting code changes. She has experience in manufacturing and research with an engineered wood products company. With a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Sandra is a Registered Civil Engineer in Idaho and California, a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Idaho and the local and state chapters of building officials. The seminar contains an overview of the special inspection categories listed in Chapter 17 of the International Building Code (IBC), including concrete, wood, masonry and steel. Additional topics include engineer, special inspector, building department, and other stakeholders’ duties and periodic vs. continuous special inspection. Jurisdictional inspection is compared to special inspection. Special inspection tasks and minimum required experience and knowledge of the construction process are defined for a special inspector. The purpose of a special inspection agency, accreditation and quality control manuals are described. The basis for this information comes from the Special Inspection Manual and the 2012 Model Program for Special Inspection.
