September 08, 2020 12:00 PM | Anonymous

We are shaking it up for our September presentations (pun intended). We have rock star Emily Guglielmo, SE, PD, SEI and NCSEA President.  She never sleeps.  This is two one hour sessions. Sept. 17th and 24th. Noon to 1:00 each day.

This session will provide an introduction to seismic design methodology and approaches used in ASCE 7.  It will focus on ASCE 7/ IBC seismic provisions that are often misunderstood or incorrectly applied by the practicing structural engineer. Key topics will include: Redundancy (ρ), R, Cd and Ωo, horizontal and vertical lateral force resisting system combinations, and irregularities. Each topic will include references to lessons learned from past earthquakes, code provisions, suggestions to simplify, and sample problems. Register on line www.seaoal.com
